We entered the new moon yesterday and when we are in the black or new phase in the lunar calendar it is a magical moment of transition. Thus the moon also remains in transit for a few days in the same degrees as the Sun. Black moon so called because it cannot be seen in the sky as it rises in the morning, sets in the evening and the sun illuminates the part that is not possible for us see.
In this magical phase it is useful to practice in the early hours of the morning or in the late sunset, the black moon goes from the tenth day and a half to the fourteenth of the full moon. Since this is a moment of strong transformation, it is ideal for closing with the past to open new chapters. The ability to cleanse and regenerate the body and nature are at their maximum, as if a sick plant or tree could heal even with just a pruning in this magical moment.
In many traditions and cultures we can find Goddesses such as Hecate, Persephone and Kali associated with this phase of the Moon. However, the new moon or black moon has an ambivalent meaning. It is missing in the sky, but only momentarily as two important phases coincide in it, the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one. It shows itself hidden and is there even without showing itself, therefore it is at the same time the moon of the end and of the new beginning, symbolically representing death and rebirth.
In this phase all the practices of spiritual growth, introspection and regeneration of the soul are recommended. Important phase energetically also to charge one's tools and refine one's magical abilities.
